Battleborn to go partially free-to-play in the near future

Battleborn, the recently released first-person hero shooter from the developers of Borderlands, mostly scored well among critics, but has been little more than a flop among gamers (thanks in part, no doubt, to the release of Blizzard's Overwatch). However, developer Gearbox is committed to continuing support for the game, and it appears that a shake-up in how it's sold is part of their plans. In other words, Battleborn will be going free-to-play in a manner, with extra content and options requiring purchase.

Sony seems to have seen the light when it comes to mobile device gaming, creating a new company by the name of ForwardWorks to engage with iPhones, iPads, and Android devices of all sorts. This is not the same as Sony's previous mobile venture, one known as PlayStation Mobile. This is also different from the relative wild nonsense that was the PlayStation Phone, aka the Xperia Play.

Next month, PlayStation 4 owners will get Neverwinter: Storm King’s Thunder, Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment have announced. The game will be available on October 18, bringing gamers new content and features versus the previous title, including things like a new tier of dungeon, a trio of new adventure zones, guild alliances, an Ostorian relics system, and more. The new game will feature Catti-brie and Wulfgar, characters from R.A. Salvatore’s novels.

Metal Gear Survive gameplay footage revealed at Tokyo Game Show

Back in August at Gamescom, developer Konami surprised everyone by announcing the first Metal Gear Solid game after the departure of series creator Hideo Kojima. Dubbed Metal Gear Survive, the upcoming game doesn't star protagonist Snake, but instead features four-player, online co-op survival play set in an alternate timeline of the MGS5 universe. Now this weekend's Tokyo Game Show was used to reveal the title's first gameplay in a demo running just over 15 minutes.

PlayStation chief addresses No Man’s Sky complaints, admits PR ‘wasn’t great’

No Man's Sky, one of this year's most anticipated PS4 games, has been the source of numerous controversy since its release in August. The first few days were plagued with bugs and other issues, even after a huge day-one patch, and eventually a huge number of players began complaining that the game didn't match up with how it had been marketed, and that promised features were missing altogether. Now Shuhei Yoshida, Sony's Worldwide Studios president, has addressed the issue, saying he understands players' frustrations.

New Resident Evil 7 details include trailer and demo update

With the Tokyo Game Show currently underway in, well, Tokyo, developer Capcom has used the event to reveal new details and media on Resident Evil 7 biohazard. The most exciting bit is that the "Beginning Hour" teaser demo that was first released in June on PS4 has received a free update that adds new areas to explore. Also neat is that the PS Plus requirement has been dropped, so now anyone can download the latest version of the demo at no cost.
