T-Mobile gives 200MB data to all tablet users; New iPads for no fee upfront

T-Mobile is offering all its tablets, including the new iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display, with 200MB of free data each month for the lifetime of the slate, as well as the option to spread the cost of a new tablet purchase over two years with $0 upfront. The new deals, part of what the carrier is calling "Un-carrier 3.0 Part II", applies to both iPad and Android tablet models, and also sees the cost of adding data allowances beyond the bundled 200MB reduced in price.

For those off-contract, there are daily passes with 500MB of LTE service and "unlimited" internet access beyond that (at lower speeds) from $5. $10, meanwhile, gets a weekly pass with 1GB of LTE and unlimited, lower-speed data beyond that.

T-Mobile voice customers, meanwhile, can sign up to $10 per month plans which adds 500MB of LTE service on their tablet, with unlimited lower-speed access after that. More data can be added in 2GB increments for $10 a shot.

The bundled data was first spotted as part of T-Mobile's iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display LTE options yesterday. The carrier also offers 2.5GB per month for $30 or 4.5GB for $40.

As for the payment plans, that will see an iPad Air priced at $26.25 per month for two years, for the 16GB model, or an iPad mini with Retina display for $22.08, again for the 16GB. The original iPad mini is $17.91 per month.

On the Android side, the 2013 Nexus 7 will be offered for $16 per month, again with no upfront charge, while the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will be $19 per month. T-Mobile will also be accepting tablet trade-ins toward the cost of a new iOS or Android slate, even if your existing tablet is WiFi-only.

There are some limits to what the 200MB of free data can be used for, however; for instance, it can't be taken advantage of while roaming abroad. The new plans will be offered from November 1st.
