Sun and Moon's next mythical Pokemon is now available

With Pokemon UltraSun and UltraMoon coming up next month, Sun and Moon are approaching the end of their run as the current mainline Pokemon games. Nintendo is supporting them up until the very end, though, launching a new mythical Pokemon promotion today. Unfortunately, your window to get this new Pokemon will be quite limited, and there will be some leg work involved as well.

Beginning today, you can swing by any GameStop store in the US to pick up a code card for Marshadow, a mythical fighting/ghost dual-type Pokemon. Marshadow has never been previously available in Pokemon Sun and Moon, making this your first – and likely only – chance to pick it up until Nintendo decides to run a similar promo for UltraSun and UltraMoon (if it does at all).

The Marshadow you receive from the code card will be level 50 when it arrives in your game and it will know four different attacks: Spectral Thief, Close Combat, Shadow Ball, and Force Palm. It'll also be holding Marshadium-Z, which allows it to perform the Marshadow-exclusive Soul-Stealing 7-Star Strike.

Marshadow will only be available at GameStop until October 23, so you've got precisely two weeks to obtain a card. Once you have it, scratch off the area on the back to reveal a code, which you'll then enter within Pokemon Sun or Moon. Simply select "Mystery Gift" from the main menu, and then select "Receive via code/password." Enter the code and wait as Marshadow is transferred to your game.

As a reminder, today is the final day to get a special Pikachu wearing Ash Ketchum's hat, which is also available through Mystery Gift. Those who purchase Pokemon Gold and Silver from the 3DS eShop will also be given a code to receive Celebi in Sun, Moon, UltraSun, or UltraMoon, so there are plenty of freebies to be had for the Pokemon masters of the world. For now, you can check out Marshadow in action in the trailer above.
