Why Your Car's Tire Pressure Light Turns On Even Though The Tires Aren't Low
By SAMANTHA CATALANO
Your vehicle is equipped with several warning lights that appear on your dashboard, such as the TPMS light, also known as the tire pressure monitoring system.
When the TPMS light comes on, you often only need to ensure that each tire has enough pressure. However, there are times when the light won’t go away.
This problem could be caused by temperature changes outside, as cold air causes your tire pressure to decrease. Just ensure that your tires have the manufacturer’s psi requirement.
If the tires’ psi are good, the cause could be a faulty TPMS sensor. These sensors typically have a battery that lasts anywhere from six to ten years or 90K-120K miles.
Unfortunately, these batteries aren’t replaceable, so you will need to replace all the sensors since the rest will likely die soon.
