Why You Won't See Christian Bale Driving A Ferrari
By KYLE ENCINA
Christian Bale is no stranger to being behind the wheel of titillating vehicles, from a Lamborghini Murcielago as Bruce Wayne in "The Dark Knight" to the legendary Ford GT40 as pro driver Ken Miles in "Ford v Ferrari." In reality, however, Bale’s daily driver is something a lot more inconspicuous: an aging 2003 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.
A Toyota Tacoma might not have the same appeal as a Ferrari to most folks, but being unobtrusive and practical is exactly what Bale likes about it. In fact, the English star's Toyota pickup was a second-hand purchase, and he has been driving it for more than a decade, never worrying about it being scratched or stolen.
He keeps the 19-year-old pickup around for more than practical reasons. Bale told Esquire that he identifies with his truck, and relates it to his humble beginnings. The Academy Award-winning actor continues to drive his trusty Tacoma, "Because I love it. It's who I am, it's what I come from," he explained.
It’s not likely Bale tears through town in his Tacoma, but he sates his thirst for speed by racing motorcycles, a sport he describes as hypnotizing. He owns an exotic $25,000 MV Agusta F4 sport bike gifted to him by the manufacturer. The actor hasn’t ruled out racing a Shelby AC Cobra one day; he admitted to fantasizing about the Cobras he drove in "Ford v Ferrari."
