Why You Need To Shut Down Your Computer At Night
By NOR'ADILA HEPBURN
If you work a lot or spend long hours in front of your screen, you’ll want to switch off your computer before you sleep. In addition to increasing your productivity, saving money, and making your device less vulnerable to hackers, there are two main reasons why shutting down is always a good idea.
Better Performance
Turning off your computer gives it a chance to clear its RAM, so you can have a fresh start every time you work. When you don't have enough RAM space, programs and apps are sluggish and less efficient when in use.
Battery Life
If you own a laptop, you’ll want to pay attention to its battery charge cycle because all laptop batteries are designed to last for about 500 charge cycles. Shutting it down at the end of the day prevents the battery’s capacity from diminishing too quickly (and eventually dying).
