Whatever Happened To The 12-Year-Old NFT Millionaire?
By MONICA J. WHITE
In June 2021, 12-year-old Benyamin Ahmed launched his own NFT (non-fungible token) collection called “Weird Whales” and amassed over $1 million worth of cryptocurrency. Ahmed told the New York Post in an interview that he doesn't even have a traditional bank account if he should ever want to convert his crypto riches.
Since his success, Ahmed has stayed busy and involved in the NFT and crypto space, sharing his thoughts with his whopping 33,000 Twitter followers and speaking at many events, most recently, at the NFC Summit in Lisbon. To date, Ahmed remains the youngest person to lecture at Pembroke College, Oxford University, founded in 1624.
Right now, according to a recent interview, Ahmed is a “Web 3.0 Advisor” on a project that employs a lot of actual adults, including people who worked for Marvel and CBS. Ahmed and his colleagues are said to be working on NFT movies and TV shows, so one thing is for sure — the young programmer seems to have a bright future ahead.
