What To Do If You Can't Find An App On Your Android Phone
By SHIKHAR MEHROTRA
Due to the copious number of apps available on the Google Play Store, it’s not uncommon for some to have over 100 apps downloaded on their phone, which can make it challenging to locate the particular one you need. Thankfully, there are several ways to organize apps, create shortcuts, and even search for specific apps on certain brands.
You might be unable to find your app because it didn’t download correctly, which could be a low storage issue that can be fixed by deleting apps or files on your phone. However, a network issue might require you to change your download preference in the Play Store’s settings from “Over Wi-Fi Only” to “Over Any Network” by going into “Network Preferences” and switching it to “App Download Preference.”
If the app’s installed, a simple way to find it is by opening Google assistant — either by saying “Hey Google,” holding the power button, or pressing the mic button on the Google Search bar — then saying “Open [app name].” You can also look for the app by swiping up on the home screen to open an app drawer and typing in the app’s name in the search bar at the top.
It might be wise to move any frequently used apps to the Home Screen by locating them with the search feature, then pressing and holding on the icon, and selecting ‘Add To Home’ from the drop-down menu. Once the desired apps are on the Home Screen, you can organize them by tapping and holding the app’s icon, then dragging and dropping it in the desired place.
If you’re using multiple apps for similar purposes, grouping them together in a folder to save space on your Home Screen might make sense. Press and hold an app’s icon and drag it over another app’s icon, then tap on ‘Folder Name’ and enter a name; after which, close the keyboard and tap anywhere outside of the folder’s box to exit.
