What Makes Indian’s Most Powerful Motorcycle Engine So Special
By JOE CAPRARO
Indian Motorcycle’s new PowerPlus 108, available in the Challenger and the Pursuit, is the company’s most potent stock engine ever, producing 122 hp and 128 ft-lbs of torque.
Indian claims it put the 108 cubic inch liquid-cooled, eight-valve overhead cam engine through nearly one million miles of simulated testing, plus more than 250,000 on the road.
During a promotional video, senior engineer Jay McKoskey highlighted some of the engine’s technological details that maximized its power, such as its liquid cooling and air box.
Cycle World’s Kevin Cameron detailed how they also maximized kinetic and heat energy transfer efficiency inside the engine, leading to a clean and smooth running product.
