The Best Wordle Starting Words and Other Expert Tips

Like a moth to a flame, you’re drawn to the wildly popular word-guessing game Wordle. How can you improve your abilities and outwit your friends and family members? What are the best starting words?
The most elementary path to victory begins with randomly guessing a five-letter word. Of course, your guesses can be more efficient if you use a strategy — think of a word with five distinct letters.
Before hazarding your first guess, though, let Google’s Director of Research Peter Norvig’s findings guide you. Norvig discovered E is the most common letter in the English language, followed by T, A, O, and I, with N, S, R, H, and L next.
Now, you can choose five-letter words using Norvig’s top letters, such as RATIO, ROAST, or TEARS. You can also start with words that use three or four of the top letters, like POETS, TORCH, or TRAMS.
Searching for the most optimal starting word led programmers and coders to hack into the game. They suggest trying RAISE or SOARE, but of course the fun in playing Wordle is that the solutions vary every time. Good luck!
