Ranking The Biggest Lawn Mower Brands From Worst To Best
By JUSTIN OWEN
9. Murray
Murray is a low-budget mower exclusive at Home Depot. The brand offers four push and two riding models, starting at $249 for the basic mower.
The model 153003 is the only self-propelled mower from Murray for $379.00. Consumer Reports gave it an overall rating of 58/100, noting issues such as being loud.
8. Troy-Bilt
Offering several different push and riding mowers, Troy-Bilt provides good value for buyers who don’t want to buy a budget brand.
Unfortunately, feedback to Consumer Affairs is poor. With 600 reviews collected, it only musters a 1.1/5 rating due to poor customer service and difficult return policies.
7. Cub Cadet
Although its original manufacturer is no longer in business, Cub Cadet continues as one of several MTD brands, a Stanley Black & Decker division.
Cub Cadet is often highly regarded, but Consumer Affairs has rated the brand 2.3/5 because many complained about its poor customer service and product failures.
6. Snapper
Since its inception in 1951, Snapper has been a mainstay in the lawn care industry, and its products are used to mow lawns across the country.
Although its Consumer Affairs score of 2.5/5 may not appear high, the Consumer Reports’ rating on the battery-powered Snapper SXD19PWM82K is 78/100, among the highest tested.
5. Husqvarna
Husqvarna has been building expertise in battery-powered products, such as its LE-322 self-propelled battery-powered lawn mower that uses a 40-volt system.
Homes and Gardens gave the mower a favorable 4/5 score; however, the biggest complaint is the $799 price, which is at the upper end of the scale for a consumer-grade product.
