In-Production Car Engines That We'd Consider To Be Among The Best
By JUSTIN OWEN
Mercedes-Benz AMG
AMG GLA and CLA models use a twin-charged, 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine that produces 416 horsepower by combining turbocharging with an electric supercharger.
The transverse setup allows for a compact package, but the advanced engineering makes the engine the most powerful 4-cylinder on the market.
Mazda Inline-6
This engine is a longitudinally-mounted 3.3-liter turbocharged inline-6 with a power rating of 340 horsepower and 369 ft-lb of torque in the S trim level.
The engine will be a substantial upgrade and power the CX-9 replacement, the CX-90. Mazda's M Hybrid drive system will supplement the engine with electric power.
Cadillac LT4 V8
The Blackwing LT4 engine is to be one of Cadillac's last two gasoline-powered engines ever built as the carmaker transitions to an all-electric lineup.
The CT5-V Blackwing V8 is equipped with a supercharger that produces 668 horsepower and is definitely the most refined, innovative, and powerful in Cadillacs history.
Dodge 6.2L HEMI
The current supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI nearly doubles the power output of the ‘70 Plymouth Cuda (425 HP) with a neck-breaking 807 HP.
There is a lot of technology packed into the block. The whining supercharger is an intoxicating sound, but the only thing that matters is that it is a brute.
Koenigsegg Giant
The Koenigsegg Gemera is a hybrid vehicle with an electric drivetrain augmented by a 3-cylinder engine called the Tiny Friendly Giant.
The car's total power output is a staggering 1,700 horsepower, 600 of which come from a 2.0-liter 3-cylinder engine with no camshafts.
