How Much It Really Costs To Charge Your Electric Vehicle At Walmart
By JAMES DOLAN
At 150 Walmart locations, customers can access 150 kW and 350 kW level 3 EV chargers. The cost depends on your particular state, EV model, and total needed charging time.
With the 350-kW connector (aka Hyper-Fast), it’s possible to gain a range of about 20 miles in a minute, but most EVs don’t have a charging limit that exceeds 300 kW.
Even so, Walmart’s 350 kW EV chargers have more than enough power to supercharge most EVs from 0% to 80% in about 20 to 30 minutes.
The slower 150-kW charger (aka Ultra-Fast) is an alternative option for EVs not designed to exceed 150 kW of rapid charging.
In most states, Electrify America charges guests 43 cents per kWh or Electrify America Pass+ subscribers 31 cents per kWh.
Some Walmart stations bill by the minute. If that’s the case, a 350-kW charger will cost 32 cents per minute for guests and 24 cents per minute for Pass+ members.
