How Leaving Your Steam Deck Plugged In Overnight Effects The Battery
By DANIEL TROCK
Although rechargeable batteries last longer than ordinary ones, devices that use them, like the Steam Deck, should be treated with care to maximize their potential lifespans.
A common concern is whether charging these devices overnight is okay, but Valve hasn’t released any concrete statements on the issue for the Steam Deck.
The Steam Deck’s battery recharges to 100% before it internally turns off the power cable connection. It stays that way until the battery percentage decreases to 90%.
Plugging the Deck in overnight will have it continuously going back and forth between these two states for hours, shortening the battery’s life with unnecessary wear and tear.
