Here's The Easiest Way To Scan Your Android Phone For Viruses
By MONICA J. WHITE
Many believe the dangerous misconception that they don’t need to worry about viruses, spyware, and malware on a phone. Unfortunately, many smartphone viruses are out there, and it's essential to protect yourself because phones commonly hold private data, including passwords, messages, and even bank accounts, and should be covered with an antivirus app.
There are plenty of viruses that affect Android phones and plenty of antivirus apps. When you search for the right app to suit your needs, some apps will be free, and some will require an upfront payment or a monthly subscription. What follows are some of the most popular app options (based on download numbers and ratings) for you to consider.
BitDefender for Android: Offers a free version, but you can also pay to use the full-fledged version that expands security and adds VPN access. Avast One Essential: You can use the app for free to receive virus protection and a small amount of VPN bandwidth, but you should consider the premium option. Download these apps from the Google Play Store.
Norton 360: The app costs $14.99 per year for the first year, then goes up to $30 per year, and includes an ad blocker and a Wi-Fi analysis tool. Kaspersky for Android: This solid antivirus option is free; unfortunately, you only get real-time protection if you pay $15 per year for the premium version. Download these apps from the Google Play Store.
Choose your app and install it through the Google Play Store, where you’ll likely have to register an account; if you choose a paid option, pay for your service at this time. After set-up, your chosen app will scan your phone, checking apps and storage for viruses; some apps offer real-time protection, while others have options for regular scanning – both good ideas.
