Game Changing iPhone Features That Should Be More Widely Known
By JOE RICE-JONES
Back Tap
The Back Tap feature allows users to quickly open their phone’s camera by tapping around the Apple logo on the back; however, it isn’t enabled by default.
Go into Settings, Accessibility, Physical and Motor, Touch, then select Back Tap. Decide if you want two taps or three, and then select Camera from the list.
Monochrome
With so many features and apps competing for users’ attention, iPhones include a way to turn your device’s screen monochrome to help you focus.
To do so, go to Settings, Accessibility, Display & Text Size, and Color Filters. Turn it on, and your iPhone will go monochrome.
Disable Face ID
While Face ID gives you quick access to your iPhone, you may want to turn it off in some situations. Luckily, there are a few ways to temporarily disable it.
You can hold the side button and one of the volume buttons to open the Emergency power off screen, or go to Settings, Emergency SOS, and toggle the Call with Side Button switch.
Add Another
Face ID is intended for one person, but you can register a second face with the Face ID Alternative Appearance option.
In Settings, go to Face ID & Passcode, enter your passcode, and tap on Set Up an Alternative Appearance. The other person can then scan their face following the directions.
Spotlight
Spotlight search is hidden until swiped with a quick top-to-bottom motion. You can use it to search for apps, documents, or other things on your phone or the internet.
In recent versions of iOS, the search bar is at the bottom of the screen. You can type into it or use the mic button for voice searches.
