By ALVIN REYES
M-Type Midget
With its 20-horsepower four-cylinder engine and stylish design, experts consider the MG M-Type Midget the precursor of the sports car that enthusiasts love today.
The car sold well after its 1928 debut, and the 1931 variant with a modified four-speed gearbox became the first 750 cc production car to reach a 100 mph top speed.
TC Midget
The TC Midget is perhaps MG’s most famous post-war vehicle. It’s based on the pre-war variant of the MG T-Type but with new features like a four-inch wider body.
Under the hood is a 1.25-liter XPAG four-cylinder gas engine with a synchromesh four-speed manual gearbox. The car was also the first MG exported to the U.S.
MGA 1500
The 1500 variant of the MG MGA came with a 68-horsepower 1.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and a four-speed manual gearbox, enough to reach a 98 mph top speed.
MG produced 58,750 units of the MGA 1500, and it was the first MG production car to feature curvy styling and pontoon-style fender designs.
MGB Roadster
There were variations of the MGB, but none were as iconic as the Roadster. It was the world’s most popular sports car from 1962 to 1980.
It had a 1.798-liter four-cylinder engine with 94 horsepower and 107 pound-feet of torque, helping it propel from zero to 60 mph in 12.1 seconds. It also had a 108 mph top speed.
MG Cyberster
MG revealed the Cyberster electric concept at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, commemorating its first production EV and the automaker's 100th anniversary.
MG claims the two-door, two-seat Cyberster EV will arrive in the U.K. in the summer of 2024 and reports it will offer zero to 60 mph in under three seconds with a 500-mile battery.
