14 Of The Best Motorcycles Harley-Davidson Ever Built
By JUSTIN OWEN
WLA Liberator
Contracted by the military to provide motorcycles to the U.S. Army during World War II, Harley-Davidson produced the rugged and durable WLA "Liberator."
During the war, they were mostly used for escort, scout, and police duties. While the Allies would have likely still won without these motorcycles, they did have an impact.
V-Rod
The V-Rod may not have been the most popular Harley, but it is still an incredible bike that sold for an impressive 16 model years and produced 120 horsepower.
The company dubbed the engine Revolution, and it earned this nickname by debuting many firsts for the company, including fuel injection, overhead cams, and water cooling.
Pan America 1250
With the Revolution engine and its efforts to attract new customers, Harley-Davidson created the Pan America 1250, a departure from its iconic cruisers.
The Pan America provides a comfortable riding experience. It sits tall and has a large travel distance, which helps the adjustable and adaptable suspension tackle rugged terrain.
Buell
Although Buell motorcycles are not Harleys, the two companies have been linked for many years. Buell produced sports racers using Harley V-Twin air-cooled engines.
The company also featured many innovations, such as making the engine part of the frame, turning part of the frame into the fuel tank, and using a unique braking system.
XR750
According to Silodrome, Harley-Davidson first presented the XR750 for racing in 1970, a motorcycle that would become a legend in the flat-track racing scene.
It was an immediate success and dominated the sport for decades. While the bike won many championships, its best-known publicity came from its use by the daredevil Evel Knievel.
