10 Unexpected Ways To Use Your Old Computer Parts
By NATHAN P. GIBSON
Keychain
A CPU might only seem useful for its intended purpose, but its small size and distinctive appearance could make it a futuristic-looking keychain.
Take the old CPU from your computer, remove any pins from its bottom, clean up the part, and drill a hole in one corner to put the keyring through.
Knife Mount
While magnetic knife blocks can be expensive, you can make your own using the powerful neodymium magnets in a hard drive or other computer components.
Dismantle the parts containing these magnets and glue them to the back of a piece of wood. Then, screw it to your wall of choice and attach your knives using the magnets.
Planter
Combine the digital and natural worlds to create a case for plants and flowers by removing an old PC tower's inside components.
Once the insides have been removed, lay down some landscaping fabric. Then, wash it, fill the case with soil, and find an appropriate plant for your space.
Desk Caddy
Although you may not be using your old floppy disks to store important data anymore, you can still get some use out of them by turning them into a desk caddy.
Choose the most appropriate glue for the job and ensure that the floppy disks are aligned to create a storage solution to help keep your workspace more organized.
Art
Rather than using your old computer parts to create something functional, another option is to make unique art with its many different components.
You don't need any expertise in computing or electronics for this idea. Simply use your creative side and create artwork using any piece of old equipment you have.
