Star Wars Triple Force Friday: Caution for collectors

For the past several years, Lucasfilm and Disney have made it their mission to make "Force Friday" a shopping holiday. To make the absolute most of the first Friday in which certain Star Wars toys were made available, they initiated a sort of tradition. Since just before the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we've been experiencing this day they call Force Friday.

Why (3x) Triple Force Friday?

It's called "triple" Force Friday because Lucasfilm and Disney want you to acknowledge three new properties that'll be released soon. One movie, one TV show, and one video game. Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, The Mandalorian, and the EA Games/Respawn Entertainment game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

When did Triple Force Friday start?

Starting at 1-minute after midnight, this morning, 12:01 local time (wherever you happen to live) for certain local stores – there'll be new products out and available for sale. Each online store participating in the madness opened according to whatever point at which they considered it their stroke-of-midnight, too.

Here on SlashGear, we're not exactly "celebrating" the same way some stores are celebrating – we're not attempting to sell you anything. We're just here to show you the most awesome, most strange, and most technologically advanced Star Wars products revealed today. That includes a variety of products – everything from cookware to LEGO bricks.

A word of caution for collectors

Know, though, that this isn't a day in which products are particularly limited – or extremely valuable beyond what they'd be worth any other day. Force Friday is an event – the products that appear on Force Friday are ALMOST all going to still be available from their respective stores after this day ends.

There are some special promotions where you'll get a poster, or similar sort of low-cost, easy-to-distribute products, but still: This is just a fun event. It's not about getting something that'll never again be available to you in the future.

What's new?

You can watch the full 45-minute Triple Force Friday Global Reveal Livestream originally broadcast by the Star Wars YouTube channel below. This was broadcast days before the actual Friday of the release of the products shown.

And stick around SlashGear for all the Star Wars fit to post. Feel free to drop in on the Star Wars tag portal or just hit the front page and see what's most recently revealed. This is a day that shall be long remembered – likely by your wallet.
