Star Wars: The Old Republic game update 2.4: The Dread War hits October 1

BioWare and LucasArts have announced that a new update for Star Wars: The Old Republic is coming next month. Game update 2.4: The Dread War will land on October 1 and bring with it new gameplay features. The developers behind the game say that it continues to grow since it went free to play last November.

BioWare says to support new players it has implemented BitRaider streaming allowing players to get into the action faster with a smaller initial download. The 2.4 update will bring new 4v4 player-versus-player Warzone Arenas into the game.

Developers are also trying to lure previous players back to the game by offering them the first digital expansion pack called Rise of the Hutt Cartel at no cost. The catch to receiving the free expansion pack is that you do have to rejoin as a subscriber, not on the free to play side.

The Dread War update will have players traveling to Oricon where they will fight a pair of new Level 55 operations. Those two operations are The Dread Fortress and The Dread Palace. A The Old Republic allows players to complete the story line of eight iconic Star Wars classes to level 50 without having to pay any money.
