Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be screened on the ISS

Star Wars fans currently located in space will get a chance to watch the latest series installment before returning to Earth, NASA has confirmed. Astronauts located on the International Space Station will be given a special movie night, allowing them to watch the movie alongside the rest of the world. Disney is working with NASA to make sure the ISS crew gets this opportunity, but some of the details are still missing.READ: Star Wars: The Last Jedi Review

The movie doesn't debut in theaters for another two days; whether the special ISS screening will happen on December 15 isn't clear at this point. In a tweet yesterday, spaceflight reporter Robin Seemangal revealed that he heard from both NASA and Disney sources that the two are prepping a The Last Jedi screening to take place on the Space Station.

Seemangal also shared an image, below, of an embroidered patch in the shape of the Millennium Falcon with both the ISS and Star Wars included:

Following the tweet, Inverse says it has received confirmation from NASA itself that astronauts on the International Space Station will receive a screening of the movie. The confirmation came from NASA Public Affairs Officer Dan Huot, who said that he can "confirm the crew will be able to watch it on orbit." When that will happen wasn't stated, though; it is possible that NASA and Disney haven't worked out those details yet.

"Don't have a definitive timeline yet," Huot had said. "They typically get movies as digital files and can play them back on a laptop or a standard projector that is currently aboard."
