Star Wars hits the mobile battery market with mimo PowerBot

From the same folks that've brought your Star Wars USB stick Mimobots and Star Wars microUSB converters comes a new collection of mobile power chargers. These little beasts work with 5200mAh of power, meaning your iPhone – or similarly sized device – will be able to roll with three extra lifelines of power before you have to charge R2-D2 back up. You'll also have fast-charge action with 2.1AMP right out the gate.

This system was funded earlier this year with KickStarter and will be hitting the market later this year. The Boston-based company Mimoco has worked directly with Lucasfilm to make these officially licensed characters – starting with R2-D2 and Darth Vader – planning an expanded collection starting closer to this holiday season.

Each charger will include a USB charging cable with multiple converter tips. You'll be able to charge microUSB (most Android devices), miniUSB, odd Nokia devices, Apple 30-pin (iPhone 4/4s), and Apple Lightning (iPhone 5/5s/5c). A carrying case is also included with the batch so you'll be able to keep the cord in close proximity to the charger on the go.

Every charger works with Input: DC 5V 1A, Output: DC 5V 2.1A, and a life cycle of 500 charges. Charging time for the battery itself is 3-4 hours, while the time your phone takes to charge depends on your phone – or tablet.

Pre-orders for the Star Wars mimo PowerBot series begin this week and start at $69.99 MSRP. First orders – this week – will be granted $10 off the initial price, and your credit card will not be charged at all until your order ships.
