Special edition Fortnite Xbox One leads Microsoft's E3 2019 gaming deals

A couple of weeks back, leaked images of a purple Xbox One S and matching controller started making the rounds. Word at the time was that this Xbox One was a yet-unannounced Fortnite limited edition console, and now Microsoft has confirmed those rumors. Officially dubbed the Xbox One S Fortnite Battle Royale Special Edition bundle {which is quite the mouthful), this new console will launch this week and the lead the charge for Microsoft's E3 2019 deals.

The bundle comes with the purple Xbox One S and wireless controller we saw last week, the Dark Vertex cosmetic set (which comes with a legendary outfit, epic glider, and rare pickaxe), 2,000 V-Bucks, and one-month trials to Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass. If you're a fan of Fortnite and you're in the market for an Xbox One, it doesn't seem like a bad deal, especially if you happen to like purple.

Right out of the gate, this Xbox One will be discounted too. The Fortnite Special Edition bundle launches on June 7th, the same day that Microsoft kicks off its E3 2019 sales event. The event will run until June 17th, and during it, you'll be able to snag the Fortnite bundle for $50 less.

If purple (or Fortnite, for that matter) isn't really your style, you can pick up an Xbox One X instead from participating retailers and save $100 during the sale. Xbox One S bundles and the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition will also be $50 off during the sale, while a variety of games will be discounted by as much as 75%. Finally, wireless controllers will be $10 off and Xbox Design Labs controllers will start at $64.99.

If you've been around for Microsoft's E3 sales in the past, then these discounts probably won't come as much of a surprise. Microsoft has run very similar deals in years past, making E3 a good time to pick up a new consoles or some games on the cheap.
