South Park: The Fractured But Whole delayed into 2017

We've got some sour news for those who are looking forward to the next South Park game, as Ubisoft has announced that South Park: The Fractured But Whole has been delayed. Originally scheduled to launch in December, it now won't see release until 2017. Ubisoft revealed the delay earlier today in short post on its blog.

Unfortunately, South Park: The Fractured But Whole doesn't have a new release date yet, with Ubiosft only saying it will launch sometime in Q1 2017 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. "The development team wants to make sure the game experience meets the high expectations of fans and the additional time will help them achieve this goal," the company wrote.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole is a follow up to 2014's well-received RPG South Park: The Stick of Truth. Based on what we've seen from the new South Park title, it seems to have a lot in common with its predecessor, only instead of the high fantasy theme The Stick of Truth had, The Fractured But Whole will center around a superhero theme. Other than that, the RPG gameplay from the first remains intact, which is good news indeed.

Earlier this summer, Ubisoft showed off South Park: The Fractured But Whole at Gamescom in a 15-minute gameplay video. While the video doesn't give too much away, it does give us a peek at the character creation process, letting us watch as the player character picks a class and is eventually accepted into Cartman's league of superheroes, Coon and Friends. We'll keep an ear to the ground for news of South Park: The Fractured But Whole's new release date, so stay tuned.
