Sony Xperia Z2 will hit US shelves this summer

Back at Mobile World Congress, we got our hands on Sony's Xperia Z2, a sleek Android handset with a Full HD display and design akin to the previous Xperia Z1. After weeks of waiting, Sony has confirmed the Xperia Z2 will be launched in the US some time this summer.

Sony confirmed the launch plans to the folks at TechCrunch, but unfortunately didn't narrow it down to a specific month or day. Before arriving in the United States, the Xperia Z2 will be arriving in Canada next month, something that follows the Asia launch that has already taken place.

According to the latest word, the Xperia Z2 will be available through Sony's online store, where it will be sold unlocked — what carriers the handset will be available through hasn't been specified, and is seemingly not yet set in stone.

The Xperia Z2 features a 5.2-inch display with Live Color LED powered by X-Reality technology. There's waterproofing, as well as a 20.7-megapixel Exmore RS sensor and the ability to record video in 4K video (as well as augmented reality and timeshift video). There will be a Snapdragon 801 under the hood, as well as Adreno 330 graphics and 3GB of RAM.
