Sony Xperia Honami handset teased with power button photo

The Sony Xperia i1, more commonly known as the Honami, has been teased by Sony on Twitter today, with the company posting a close-up shot of the handset's sleek power button. It is expected the smartphone will be revealed on September 4th in Berlin soon, but in the meantime we've seen a number of leaks about the handset's specifications and design surface.

As for the teaser, the tweet was simple and revealed nothing more than a "#bestofSony" hashtag. According to rumors, the handset will feature a 5-inch Full HD 1080p display, and under the hood will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.2GHz processor, as well as 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage space. The battery is sizable at a rumored 3,000mAh, as well, though we'll have to wait to see what that translates to in terms of battery life.

The rear camera utilizes a 20-megapixel sensor, according to leaks, and it is expected the handset will be available in black, white, and purple. Quite a few images of handsets said to be the Honami have cropped up over the months, and in them we see a very square, very slim offering that fits nicely in the Xperia line up.

As mentioned, it is expected that Sony will unveil the handset in Berlin early next month, something also hinted at in the tweet with a coy mention of "not long now." If all the rumors pan out, the company will be rolling out the carpet for a nice smartphone, though those who invested in the Xperia Z might not see enough reason to upgrade.
