Sony PS4 sells more than 20.2 million units

The latest battle of the console wars was Microsoft's Xbox One pitted against Sony's Playstation 4. The results are in from Sony, and it looks like they have come out of the battle ahead in the game. Today Sony reported that is has sold more than 20.2 million Playstation 4's. This makes it the "fastest and strongest growth" game system in Playstation's twenty-one year history, according to Sony. Microsoft has yet to report their sales figures for 2015. Even at the end of last year the Xbox One's sales were close, but they were still lagging behind Sony's Playstation 4.

Sony has a lot lined up around the PS4. Their new VR headset Project Morpheus is being designed for the PS4. This means that we could be seeing Playstation 4 games with virtual reality interfaces as soon as 2016. Project Morpheus is still in its prototype phase, but it's being designed with one of the fastest refresh rates of the market. This should hopefully create smooth imaging and interaction.

We'll have to wait on the virtual reality Playstation 4 games for the time being, but even Sony's standard PS4 game lineup is growing. Game developers are working steadily to add to the list of awaiting titles. We can look forward to Konami bringing us the new Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. SCE is creating another Uncharted game for Playstation 4. This time it's Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Personally, I'm most excited about Warner Bros. new Batman: Arkham Knight. It's the latest in the Batman series preceded by Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Arkham Origins.
