Sony Cyber-shot HX350 compact camera has 50x super zoom

Sony has introduced the new Cyber-shot HX350, a digital camera that, despite its compact size, features 50x super zoom. The camera is targeted at photographers who are serious about their craft, but who need something smaller than a DSLR for certain situations. Joining the super-zoom feature is a Sony Exmor R CMOS 20.4-megapixel sensor and the BIONZ X image processing engine.

The Cyber-shot HX350 falls somewhere between the large DSLR cameras that exist beyond the scope of the average camera user and the small point-and-shoot cameras that you can find in homes around the world. Though compact, Sony says this model features a DSLR-style body alongside an electronic viewfinder and manual controls.

The HX350 features a ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* lens and 100x Clear Image Zoom alongside the 50x optical zoom. The camera also boasts Optical SteadyShot for producing crisp images and Intelligent Active Mode. Focus, meanwhile, includes both Direct Manual Focus for pro users and Lock-on Auto Focus for everyone else.

In addition to snapping still images, the camera can record video at resolutions up to Full HD. Says Sony, the camera also includes a 24p shooting mode for a 'cinematic look.' All of this can be viewed using the rear 7.5cm LCD, which itself has a 921k dot resolution. The camera will cost €450 in Europe starting next month.
