Sony Alpha A900 axed

It's not all new cameras and camcorders from Sony today; the company has also been doing some tidying up of their product range, and it seems the Sony Alpha A900 is the most notable casualty.  Now listed as "Discontinued Product" on the Sony Hong Kong site, it's unclear what will replace the 24.6-megapixel DSLR.

The A900 had been followed by the A850, toting comparable specifications but a much smaller price tag.  Meanwhile the A900 itself was around 18 months old, and perhaps overdue for retirement.  The DSLR is still listed as in-stock and available on Sony's US site.
