Sonos 5.3 launches for Android, iPhone

If you're a Sonos fan, you might have known the company has been beta-testing Sonos 5.3, but even if you didn't, we've good news: the company revealed today that the update is available now for mobile devices (assuming they're running Android or iOS). Both new functionality and bug fixes come with it, with Sonos promising that users will find room control to be more simple henceforth, and the design for tablet users in particular has been polished, among other things.

As far as new features go, mobile users who grab 5.3 will find that it now makes partying a little easier with "three taps to party", putting it in party mode with a trio of taps — that's how many it takes to get through the new drop-down menu at the top middle of the app and arrange groups as needed.

Getting to browsing is faster now, as you can simply swipe down on your device to toggle away from Now Playing into browsing mode — you can then swipe right or left to view the music sources, if desired. Other changes include a more prominent track progression bar (making it easier to skip around in songs).

Sonos doesn't go into details about the bugs it fixed, but hopefully any troubles you might have been having will be gone. Users can grab the update now from within the Sonos app (tap "update now" in the home menu). Check out the timeline below for more Sonos news!
