Some Target Stores Are Selling The PS3 For $499

We know that Circuit City is planning on a price cut for the PS3 to the tune of $100. We've also heard speculation that this discount will be applied industry-wide, but we now have the first confirmations of a lower price at at a different retail chain.

Apparently some Target stores are selling Sony's next-gen console for only $499. What is interesting is that not all stores are selling them for the lowered price, unfortunately it is late and my local Target has been closed for several hours, so I cannot confirm if any around here are offering the lower price.

I'm not a big believer in coincidences. First, Circuit City has an advertisement for a $499 PS3 this week, then Target starts selling them for the same price. To top it off, E3 begins this coming week where Sony is rumored to announce a price drop for the console. I think it's pretty safe to assume that we can get used to seeing this new price. Though if you've been itching to buy one, I'd suggest doing it this week, just in case the price isn't going to stay this low.
