Smash Bros Wii U release set for November 21st

Timed right on top of the holiday season this year is Super Smash Bros for Wii U on November 21st, 2014. This release comes weeks after Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS, a game that was released on the 3rd of October. Despite having only been released this past weekend, Nintendo reports that they've already sold more than 2.8 million units of Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS worldwide. Nintendo also suggests that – in no small part due to Smash Bros – they're set to have a strong holiday season.

Super Smash Bros for Wii U will launch right alongside amiibo, a new set of NFC-friendly figurines that will be playable in the game. Tap the amiibo to your Wii U controller and see them appear in the game – complete with unique stats according to that character's progression.

Above you'll see how amiibo work – easy peasy. The first wave of amiibo figurines will launch the same day as Super Smash Bros Wii U. The second wave will come in December.

Below you'll see the first announcement trailer for Super Smash Bros Mii – notice how awesome this commercial is. Bask in it.

Super Smash Bros for Wii U will be launching in North America for a cool $59.99 USD. Each amiibo figure will cost $12.99 USD in their first wave of 12, while the second wave will contain 6.
