Daily Wrap-up for 08/23/2006

Well hump day wasn’t too terribly exciting. We found out that Sprint started selling the Treo 700wx (with slight improvements over Verizon’s Treo 700w). Creative Zen dropped the new Vision W portable media player, which was announced via Popular Mechanics and a gold version of the Blackberry 8700g revealed by Boy Genius (image on the lefft). John got his hands on the new Maxtor 1TB shared storage and loves it. Oh and not to forget the Canon EOS 400D specs leaked by the Chinese.

So which articles did we miss? Well, Gizmodo ran an unboxing article of the Logitech MX Revolution Mouse late this evening; Microsoft announced the prices and dates for the Xbox 360 peripherals, there’s news that Creative just swindled $100,000,000 out of Apple for violating a patent protecting hierarchical menu system for portable media players, an inexpensive electronic ice cream scooper, ThinkPad T60 notebooks with integrated Cingular UMTS/HSDPA-based technology, Onkyo announced the D-Tk10 Guitar Speaker, and more information on the TiVo Series 3 on Tivo.com.

audi_r8.jpgSo many OTHER interesting articles that we didn’t get to today. Gadgetell wrote a nice piece on Humanscale Freedom desk chair, a sweet video of the Audi R8 (image on the right) testing, then there’s the Zune mockup image in living color, Intelligent robots will roam the earth by 2015, DirecTV delivering live local satellite TV and XM Satellite Radio to Vehicles, Toshiba updates Z2000, H2000, and C2000 REGZA CLD lineup, and last but not least Fujitsu unveils giant plasma TVs.

Before I forget, I want to send out a special congrats and shout out to my buddy Jason Chen of Gizmodo for being invited to be on John C. Dvorak’s Internet TV show Cranky Geeks at 11am PDT tomorrow, Thursday, August 24! It’s a show where a bunch of writers and editors from PCMag, CNET, and Ziff Davis being cranky with Dvorak. They’ be talking about stuff like PS3 and Apple firing its own workers for downloading Leopard off the Internet – fun…fun.
