Skyrim, Doom, and Fallout 4 VR release dates announced

QuakeCon 2017 kicks off tomorrow, but even before the show gets underway, Bethesda is already making big announcements. The company has chosen to kick off its QuakeCon festivities by announcing the release dates for the VR versions of Fallout 4, Doom, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. They'll all be out this year, too, so if you've got a VR headset, you'll have three excellent titles to play by the time Christmas rolls around.

Even though they're all out this year, we still have a little while to wait. According to a post on the Bethesda blog Skyrim VR will lead the pack, as it will be landing on PlayStation VR on November 17. It'll be followed closely by Doom VFR, which launches for PSVR and HTC VIVE on December 1, and then we can finally look forward to the launch of Fallout 4 VR for HTC VIVE on December 12.

All three of these titles will be on display at QuakeCon this weekend. If you're heading out to the Dallas, TX event, you'll be able to get some hands-on time with all of them. It's fairly easy to imagine how all three will play in VR, though Doom VFR in particular should be a very intense affair.

We've been waiting for these VR ports for quite some time. Though they were just revealed at E3 2017 back in June, rumors of a VR version of Fallout 4 had been making the rounds for months beforehand. It wasn't much of a surprise to see them made official during E3, but many are excited for their release nonetheless.

Now it's just a matter of seeing if Bethesda eventually confirms these titles for more platforms. While we can probably expect Skyrim VR to remain exclusive to PSVR for some time, it seems likely that we'll eventually see it launch for other VR platforms like HTC VIVE and Oculus Rift. Time will ultimately tell, but for now, hop down to the comments section to let us know if you'll be playing these VR titles when they release!
