SKAGEN's Falster 2 may be the most beautiful Wear OS watch yet

Suddenly there was a Wear OS by Google smartwatch that looked different from the rest, and it was made by SKAGEN. This is a so-called "Danish-inspired lifestyle brand" that's just shown a surprisingly nice looking watch at IFA 2018. "The Falster 2 represents everything SKAGEN stands for: beautiful, design-focused products that are functional for the way people live," said Frederik Thrane, creative director for SKAGEN.

Thrane went on to say, "An appreciation of simplicity and a thoughtful approach to how your time is spent are key elements in the Danish way of life—and we capture them in our smartwatches through minimalist execution and customizable function." That's a real fancy way of describing a device that's taken a software that's available for all manner of watches already, turning it into something of a high-design concept.

But it's not a concept, it's real. Falster 2 has a bunch of features that are pretty standard on Wear OS devices, as listed below. These features were also present on the first Falster Wear OS watch.

Function-Based Dials for quick access to favorite features

Smartwatch Notifications

Activity Tracking

Customizable Watch Faces

Voice Command, powered by Google Assistant

Interchangeable Straps

Powered with Wear OS by Google

Qualcomm® Snapdragon Wear™ 2100 Platform

Compatible with iOS 9.3+ and Android 4.4+ (excluding Go edition)

This watch also adds heart-rate tracking, the ability to access Google Assistant, and a magnetic closure – if you do so wish to use it. This device is also "swimproof" and has NFC with the ability to use the watch for Google Pay wireless payments.

This watch looks like it should cost more than it does. The last one did too, really. You'll be able to purchase the Falster 2 for $275 USD (they also mention 269 GBP or 2495 DKK). This watch has interchangeable watch straps – and a whole bunch are available at the Skagen dot com store right this minute.
