SIM2 Domino D60: Sub-$5k DLP Projector
A home projector for under $5,000 wouldn't usually be groundbreaking news, but when it comes with a SIM2 logo you'll see enthusiasts interest perking up. Known for their behemoth DLP projectors, which can tip the scales at $30,000, the company has a reputation for incredible image quality. Now the new Domino D60, capable of 1080p, takes the place as one of the company's entry-level options, with SIM2 promising video better than projectors with 10,000:1 contrast ratios.
Unlike some of its bigger siblings, which have three-chip setups, the D60 is a single-chip projector based on Texas Instruments' DarkChip3 0.95-inch DMD chipset. Input options include dual HDMI, component, and RGB-HD as well as serial control for home automation integration and a 12V-trigger.
Out of the box the D60 will have three preset modes – Cinema, Dynamic and Standard – but there are also three customizable preset spaces if buyers choose to tweak the settings. SIM2 have included their BrilliantColor and Dynamic Black technology, as well as vertical lens shift (+60/-40 percent); the D60 will produce a 50-200 inch picture.
Available now, the SIM2 Domino D60 is priced at $4,995.
