Shadow Ghost game streaming box is wireless with 4K UHD support

Shadow is back with a new game streaming box called Ghost, a model that features a futuristic design coupled with high-end features, including support for streaming 4K UltraHD content and Full HD at up to 144fps. Despite its capabilities, Shadow promises completely silent operation thanks to a fanless, passively-cooled design.

Shadow Ghost is relatively small at 7.2 x 4.8 x 2-inches with a weight under 7 ounces. According to Shadow, the device uses 5W of power when playing games, which it claims is 30 times lower than equivalent experiences from a computer. Existing Shadow Box owners will soon have the option to trade in their model for Ghost via an upcoming exchange program still in the pipeline.

The company says that its Shadow Box product is now out of stock and will no longer be manufactured, meaning the Ghost is the only option going forward. As for the new model's features, buyers get a pair of USB 2.0 ports and another pair of USB 3.0 ports, HDMI 2.0, 1Gb Ethernet, Bluetooth 4.1, and dual-band WiFi.

Ghost uses three times less energy than Shadow Box, featuring no moving parts or a fan. Games can be streamed at 4K UHD at 60fps or 1080p at 144fps. The company points toward many perks that come with its new model, such as both WiFi and Bluetooth for a wireless experience, a light weight for portability, and a soft red light that'll pair well with many desktop setups.

Shadow plans to release Ghost in the fourth quarter of this year, potentially making it available in time for the holiday shopping season. The company hasn't released a price at this time, nor a date for when the Box exchange program will be live.
