Sennheiser and Freitag team for one-of-a-kind Urbanite headphones

Sennheiser has taken the wraps off a new pair of limited edition headphones, the F703 Sennheiser + FREITAG model. The limited edition model is comprised of Sennheiser's own black Urbanite on-ear headphones paired with unique styles from FREITAG for a one-of-a-kind look. The limited edition models are made with recycled truck tarpaulins over the headbands, says Sennheiser, each adding bold colors and more.

FREITAG, for those unaware, is a company that creates unique bags from recycled materials, including seat belts, bicycle inner tubes, and truck tarpaulins. The tarps are cut, washed, and then crafted into the final product, typically bags. In this case, though, FREITAG is working with Sennheiser to create unique headbands for a pair of the company's Urbanite series headphones.

The new F703 Sennheiser + FREITAG headphones feature an on-ear design, collapsible portability, and recycle truck tarpaulins over the stainless steel parts of the headphones (sliders, hinges) as well as the headband itself. Because the tarpaulins are coming from actual trucks, no two pairs of headphones are exactly the same — some examples of the new model are shown above, positioned in front of the tarpaulins from which they come.

This partnership will result in a total of 1,500 headphones, all of which are available now from FREITAG's website and respective dealers. Said Sennheiser's global design head Oliver Berger, "This limited edition is the perfect fusion of Sennheiser's expertise in developing innovative audio products and FREITAG's visionary approach of creating something new and exciting through recycling."

As far as the headphones themselves go, the model features a detachable cable with an in-line 3-button remote control and built-in microphone. Sennheiser says the headphones are "built of tough durable materials." The headphones cost $216 USD.
