Scribd adds thousands of comic books to ebook service

In October 2013, Scribd introduced a monthly ebook subscription service that provides users across multiple platforms with all-you-can-read ebooks at a set per month price. That service has been chugging along nicely since then with few notable changes...until this week. The company has just recently added thousands of comic books to its ebook subscription service, giving users access to more than 10,000 comic books and graphic novels from in excess of ten different publishers, including IDW and Marvel.

The subscription service costs $8.99 per month, and includes works from Dynamite, Zenescope, Top Cow Universe, Top Shelf Productions, IDW Publishing, Archie, Valiant, and Marvel. Both well-known works and lesser known graphic novels are offered spanning everything from super hero works to My Little Pony.

This is a notable expansion, being the first of its size to take place with an ebook service like this. The reading is done within the app (or browser), which is available for multiple platforms including Android and iOS. Scribd has complemented the comic books with things like trivia and character profiles, and has tacked on a button to binge on a series.

This latest addition has pushed Scribd on to another milestone: it now offers 1 million pieces of content in its library, some of which is user-submitted, while others are published works from many different publishers.
