Samsung W2019 clamshell Android phone just keeps on flipping

Tired of all those fancy smartphones with their bezel-less notches, elevating cameras, and complicated cooling systems? Craving for a powerful smartphone that comes in a more traditional design? Well, you can't get any more traditional than with a phone that flips open and close like the StarTACs of old. Don't worry, Samsung knows your pain too well and has prepared the SM-W2019, the latest in its seemingly immortal line of clamshell phones. As (bad) luck would have it, though, you still can't get this one.

You might think that phones with as ancient a design as this would be mid-range or barely usable at all. You couldn't be farther from the truth. What Samsung puts in the Galaxy S phone, it also puts in the W. In this case, that means a Snapdragon 845 and Android 8.1 Oreo, with a possibility of a Pie down the line. Someday.

As with the SM-W2018, there are two screens here, both Full HD but not of the bezel-less or Infinity Display kind. One is inside, with the regular display when the phone is opened wide (or tall). The other is so that you won't have to open up the phone just to use the camera.

There are two cameras on its back, based on the video that was leaked on Weibo. What those specs are, still unknown. Wouldn't be surprised if Samsung snuck in a dual aperture mechanism though.

In other words, the Samsung SM-W2019 is pretty much the Galaxy S9 of flip phones. But like all Samsung flip phones before it, it's headed only for China and Korea where it actually sells rather than just being desired.
