Samsung Gear A round smartwatch details revealed

Samsung's first round smartwatch's details arrive in the form of early developer specifications. What we're looking at here is more than just the first wave of software specs – here we've got a set of hardware specs as well. The resting conglomeration of details has us understanding more about this smartwatch than we usually are able to glean from a smartwatch that's just been launched. It's expected that this "Samsung Gear A" will be launched directly alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

According to Abhijeet M at SamMobile, this device is set to work with a dual-core processor that's far more powerful than any smartwatch we've seen before. It'll also have 4GB of onboard storage – not that it'll ever really use it. Bluetooth 4.1 will be active here as well. Have a peek at the "full" specifications here, as compiled from a variety of leaks and straight up shares from Samsung:

Samsung Gear A round-faced smartwatchDisplay: 1.56-inch 360 x 360 pixel Super AMOLEDProcessor: 1.2 GHz Samsung Exynos 3472 2x SoC, 450 MHz Mali-400 MP4 GPURAM: 768 MBStorage: 4GBBattery: 250 mAhConnectivity: 3G, Call support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (2 versions)Sensors: Gyroscope, Barometer, Heart Rate sensor, Accelerometer

Of particular interest to those expecting Android Wear on this device will be the fact that it won't. This is a TIZEN smartwatch, just like Samsung's several "Gear" devices before. You'll have to hold on for a few more months to get a circular Android Wear watch from Samsung, if they bring one at all.

This smartwatch has been called the "perfect smartwatch" by Samsung in the past, a watch that they've paused production on other watches to make. Instead of tossing as many watches as possible at the wall to see which one sticks, they've taken a bit extra time on this one. Ironic!
