Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 released for sale in USA

This morning the folks at Samsung revealed sale details for the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2. This is a smartwatch from the company that's also releasing their first foldable-display-toting smartphone, the Galaxy Fold. Samsung will have their Galaxy Watch Active2 smartwatch available for sale starting this week.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 is the newest version of Samsung's vision for the smartwatch – without WearOS from Google. They're using their own wearable-centric Tizen OS, ready to connect to smartphones with either Android or iOS right out the gate.

This newest watch comes with either a 1.4-inch or 1.2-inch circular display and a display resolution of 360 x 360 pixels. The display is Super AMOLED, and is a "Full Color Always On Display." The Galaxy Watch Active2 has GPS and Glonass as well as Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-fi connectivity.

The device has the "Active" name in its title because it comes with the following specs for water resistance, dust resistance, and impact-resistance: 5ATM, IP68, MIL-STD-810G. You'll find this device in a variety of colors and two different metals. In Stainless Steel, there's Black, Silver, or Gold. For Aluminum, there's Aqua Black, Cloud Silver, or Pink Gold.

The Galaxy Watch Active2 will be available at Samsung online and through a variety of retailers in brick and mortar stores. Samsung will also have this watch available in their Samsung Experience Store retail locations. Pricing for the Bluetooth 40mm version of the Galaxy Watch Active2 starts at approximately $280 USD. The Bluetooth 44mm version of the watch will have a starting price of right around $300 USD. Samsung originally suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 with LTE would be available starting today, too – but that seems to have changed – we'll know more soon!
