Galaxy S9 price details: Verizon, T-Mobile, unlocked, more [Updated]
Samsung has officially taken the wraps off the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, and now the carriers are weighing in with just how much it'll cost to put one in your pocket. As usual, the deals vary according to your network of choice, whether you're activating a new line or upgrading, and whether you want the 5.8-inch Galaxy S9 or the larger, 6.2-inch Galaxy S9+. Read on for all the details.
AT&T Galaxy S9 Pricing
AT&T will open Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ preorders on March 2, with in-store stock arriving from March 16. On AT&T Next, the Galaxy S9 will be priced at $26.34 per month with a 30 month agreement; you'll pay $790.20 in total. The Galaxy S9+ will be $30.50 per month over a 30 month agreement; you'll pay $915 in total. Sign up to an AT&T unlimited data plan, and you'll get HBO access included. The phone will be available in Lilac Purple, Midnight Black, and Coral Blue.
From March 16, the Galaxy S9 will also be available through Cricket Wireless, with pricing to be announced closer to that date. By the end of March, meanwhile, AT&T says that the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be available to FirstNet users, the carrier's network for first responders. That takes advantage of the Samsung phones' support for Band 14.
Sprint Galaxy S9 Pricing
Sprint will begin preorders of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ on March 2, with deliveries and in-store availability on March 16. The Galaxy S9 will be $33 per month on a Sprint Flex lease over 24 months; you'll pay $792 in total. The Galaxy S9+, meanwhile, will be $38 per month for 24 months; you'll pay $912 in total. Both phones will be offered in Midnight Black, Coral Blue. and Lilac Purple.
Both will be sold on Sprint's Galaxy Forever plan. That allows an upgrade to the latest Galaxy phone after you've paid 12 installments. Sprint also includes a Hulu subscription and six months of Tidal access.
Come March 16, meanwhile, Boost will begin offering the Galaxy S9 too, in Midnight Black. Pricing will be announced closer to that date.
T-Mobile Galaxy S9 Pricing
T-Mobile will begin Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ preorders on March 1 at 9:01pm PT, with in-store availability from March 16. The Galaxy S9 will be $30 per month for 24 months on the T-Mobile Equipment Installment Plan, with $0 down and 0-percent APR; in the end, you'll pay $720. The Galaxy S9+ will also be $30 per month on the same plan, but with a $120 downpayment; in total, you'll pay $840. They'll be offered in Lilac Purple, Midnight Black, and Coral Blue.
MetroPCS sales of the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ will begin from March 16. Pricing will be announced closer to that date. Meanwhile, T-Mobile is also taking part in the trade-in plan, with eligibility for up to twelve Galaxy S9 or S9+ handsets on the same line.
US Cellular Galaxy S9 Pricing
US Cellular will offer the Galaxy S9 and S9+ for preorder from March 2, then in-store availability from March 16. The carrier has not announced specific pricing for either phone, but has confirmed they'll be offering them both on its Retail Installment Contract, with $0 down and 0-percent APR. US Cellular will not only be offering the same trade-in deal as the other carriers, but a $250-off offer which doesn't require a trade-in.
Verizon Galaxy S9 Pricing
Verizon will open Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ preorders on March 2, with in-store availability from March 16. The Galaxy S9 will be priced at $33.33 per month for 24 months, on Verizon's 0-percent APR payment plan; in total, you'll be paying $799.99. Verizon will be offering the same Lilac Purple, Midnight Black, and Coral Blue colors.
The Verizon Galaxy S9+, meanwhile, will be priced at $38.74 per month, again for 24 months on the 0-percent APR payment plan. In total, you'll pay $929.99 for the smartphone. In addition to the trade-in plan, Verizon is also offering a number of promotions around the phones.
Port in a new line of service, for instance, and Verizon will give you a $150 prepaid MasterCard. Verizon Up customers with an active Samsung smartphone get $10 off select official Samsung accessories, and Galaxy S9 or S9+ buyers get $100 off a Gear S3 Classic or Frontier (which requires its own, two-year agreement). A Samsung Fast Charge Power Bundle will be $99.99.
Unlocked Galaxy S9 Pricing
Unlike last year, where those wanting a SIM-free phone had to wait for Samsung to release the unlocked S8, you'll be able to order an unlocked Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ at the same time as the carriers get the phones. Preorders will kick off on March 2, direct from Samsung, and ship out March 16. You'll be able to order in Lilac Purple, Midnight Black, and Coral Blue.
Samsung will also be offering payment plans for both phones. The unlocked Galaxy S9 will be $719.99 outright or $30/month for 24 months, while the unlocked Galaxy S9+ will be $839.99 outright or $35/month for 24 months. The same trade-in deals will be offered too.
