Samsung Galaxy S III bricking issue fix appearing "as soon as possible"

It would appear that we're getting closer and closer to a fix for the phantom bricking of the Samsung Galaxy S III that we've heard washings of over the past few weeks in forums galore. This fix has been spoken of by Dutch Samsung representative Anne ter Braak as delivered to Tweakers. Though the update on the situation doesn't exactly tell us a whole lot of new information on the subject, we'll take what we can get at this point.

This update comes for the error being called "Sudden Death" by the Android Community out there in the wild, it affecting "only a very limited number of Galaxy S III models with 16GB memory" (translated), so said Anne ter Braak. She also made it clear that the error is a "firmware bug" and can be fixed "easily" with a firmware update. It's not immediately clear why such an easy fix isn't already out over the air.

One possibility is the fact that this bug appears to spew forth from a mix of your everyday average users as well as those using custom ROMs. Generally a problem such as the one being spoke about here affects one group or the other, natural users or those that hack. Here the bug appears to be a bit more feisty.

We're expecting this problem to be fixed rather rapidly, but it'll surely also be eclipsed heavily by the news appearing over the next week due to CES 2013 – hit that portal as well to keep up to date on all things big tech dropping!
