Sony DSC-TX5 waterproof point-and-shoot unearthed

All signs point to a new digicam from Sony that will pack not only pocket-friendly dimensions but a waterproof casing too.  The Sony DSC-TX5 is expected to slot in underneath the DSC-TX7 announced at CES 2010, and have a touchscreen LCD together with an Exmor CMOS sensor.  Meanwhile photos of the camera were apparently posted by Sony and then quickly pulled.

Full specifications of the TX5 are unclear, however.  From the photos it obviously has Carl Zeiss optics, and we can make out a 4x marking which suggests it has an internal 4x optical zoom.  However megapixel count and lens details are yet to be announced.

Also unknown is when Sony expect to launch the TX5.  The apparent release of press shots along with the other CES 2010 official photography suggests the company are close to announcement; perhaps we'll see the camera debut at PMA 2010 in February?
