The big Note 9 deals on preorder day

It's Galaxy Note 9 preorder day, and the carriers all have deals hoping to get you to put a brand new Samsung phablet into your pocket or purse. The new S Pen, bigger display, and huge battery don't come cheap, but with payment plans and some BOGO offers – along with a couple of Samsung bundles – the sting isn't quite as sharp as it could be. Read on for all the details.

AT&T Galaxy Note 9

AT&T will offer both the 128GB Note 9 and the 512GB Note 9, priced at $999.99 and $1,249.99 respectively. If you sign up to the carrier's payment plan, you're looking at #33.34/mo over 30 months with $0 down for the 128GB model, or $41.67/mo over 30 months with $0 down for the 512GB phone.

However, AT&T is also offering a "buy one get one" promotion. Buy a Note 9 and you'll get a second thrown in – or a Galaxy S9 or S9+ – though you do have to have a new line of service too.

Verizon Galaxy Note 9

Verizon will have both the 128GB and 512GB versions of the Note 9, priced at $999.99 and $1,249.99 respectively. If you sign up to a Verizon device payment plan, meanwhile, you can get the 128GB Note 9 for $41.66/mo for 24 months, with $0 down. Alternatively, the 512GB version is $52.08/mo for 24 months, again with $0 down.

Verizon is also offering a "buy one get one" promotion: if you buy a 128GB Note 9, you can get a second Note 9, or a Galaxy S9 or S9+, as well. Both devices need to be bought on a device payment plan, and each need a new line of service. If you're a Verizon Up member, with an active Samsung device on your account, the carrier will give you $10 off Samsung accessories.

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 9

T-Mobile will have both capacity versions of the Note 9, and both colors. The 128GB model will be $999.99 outright, while the 512GB version will be $1,249.99 outright.

You'll also be able to get both phones on T-Mobile's Equipment Installment Plan (EIP), with the 128GB Note 9 coming in at $30/mo for 24 months with $279.99 down. The 512GB Note 9 will also be $30/mo for 24 months, but $529.99 down. Alternatively, the 128GB Note 9 will offered on Jump On Demand, T-Mobile's upgrade plan, for $29/mo for 18 months, with $279.99 down. [Update: T-Mobile had given us the incorrect pricing for the 128GB Note 9 on Jump On Demand; it's lower each month, but with a larger initial payment. You'll also be able to get the 512GB Note 9 on Jump On Demand: it'll be $26/month for 18 months, with $529.99 down.]

If you've got a device to trade in, T-Mobile will give you up to 50-percent of the cost of the Note 9 for it. That'll obviously depend on which phone you're trading, and its condition, mind.

Sprint Galaxy Note 9

Spring will only have the 128GB version of the Note 9, priced at $999.99. However, with a Sprint Flex Lease you can get it for half-price. That means $20.83/mo for 18 months and $0 down, with the ability to upgrade after 12 months. Alternatively, when the lease ends you can pay the balance between full price and what's already been paid, and keep the phone.

U.S. Cellular Note 9

U.S. Cellular will have both the 128GB and 512GB versions of the Note 9, priced at $999 and $1,249 respectively for prepaid handsets, in both Ocean Blue and Lavender Purple. Alternatively, if you sign up for a new service plan you can get the 128GB Note 9 for $33.30/mo or the 512GB version for $41.64/mo, for 30 months and with $0 down.

If you purchase the device on a new line of service, meanwhile, U.S. Cellular will give you $150 in bill credits too. You'll need to sign up for Device Protection+ too, however.

Unlocked Galaxy Note 9

As you'd expect, Samsung is offering the Note 9 direct, both unlocked and with carrier service. Regardless of which you choose, it's priced at $999.99 for the 128 GB version, and $1,249.99 for the 512 GB version. If you have a phone to trade-in, Samsung will give you up to $450 toward the cost of a new Note 9.

There are also finance deals through Samsung, and Samsung Upgrade. With financing, you can get the 128 GB Note 9 for $41.67 per month over 24 months, with $0 down. With Samsung upgrade the monthly price and agreement length is the same, but you can return the Note 9 after twelve months and get up to a 50-percent credit toward the cost of a new Samsung device.

The Note 9 preorder deals

Samsung is offering a couple of deals to sweeten the Note 9's price. For a limited time, those who preorder the phablet will be able to choose between two freebies. Either you opt for a pair of AKG noise-cancelling headphones, normally priced at $299, or 15,000 Fortnite V-bucks, worth $150.

If you're indecisive and can't choose, you can also opt to get both. That will cost you another $99 on top of the price of the phone. All of the offers will run until August 23, or while supplies last.

The Note 9 accessories

Samsung's biggest accessory for the Note 9 is the Wireless Charger Duo, a dual pad charging station that can rejuice your Note 9 as well as another device, such as the Galaxy Watch. It has two 15W fast wireless charging pads, and since they're Qi-compliant you don't need to be using a Samsung product with them. The Wireless Charger Duo will also work with your iPhone X, or numerous other devices. It's priced at $119.99.
