Samsung Galaxy Mega heads to MetroPCS

If you're the sort of mobile phone user that the prefers to use prepaid networks rather than being tied down to a contract for several years, word has surfaced that MetroPCS is set to get the new Samsung smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy Mega has turned up running MetroPCS branded software indicating that the phone will be hitting the network relatively soon.

Along with the images, the tipster claims that the Galaxy Mega will be on MetroPCS store shelves sometime before the start of the holiday season. There is no confirmation from Samsung or MetroPCS the backup that holiday season launch claim.

The hardware inside the smartphone should be the same as the Galaxy Mega 6.3 we reviewed back in August. That hardware includes a dual-core 1.7 GHz processor and 1.5 GB of RAM. Presumably, both the 8 GB and 16 GB versions will be available. The smartphone has a microSD card slot allowing for storage expansion up to 64 GB.

The Galaxy Mega also has a 1.9-megapixel front camera and eight-megapixel rear camera. The operating system is Android 4.2 and power for the device comes from a 3200 mAh internal battery. The phone features a big 6.3-inch display.
