All rumors thus far point toward the Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) model launching some time this month (June 22 is one possible date), but as of now the phone remains unofficial. That may change sooner than anticipated, however, as an Amazon listing for the phone just recently went live early, showing off what are presumably official photos of the budget smartphone, as well as a curious date: June 5 (that's today).

The phone appeared on Amazon's France website, showing multiple images of the anticipated Android smartphone, all of them bearing the date 'June 5' on the phone's screen. That led to speculation that Samsung would be announcing the new phone today, though that hasn't happened yet. It is still possible the phone could be announced today, though it seems unlikely given the late hour.

The handset in the listing was shown in both black and gold color options, both featuring what appear to be a slightly curved display alongside a modern — and distinctly Samsung — design. According to the Amazon listing, the phone's display has a modest 720p resolution, while under the hood lies an octa-core 1.6GHz processor alongside 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The listing goes on to state that the upcoming Galaxy J5 model features Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC, has dual-SIM support, a 2600mAh battery, and runs Android 7.0 Nougat. The phone was listed for 279 EURO; the US pricing isn't clear, though will presumably be in that range. This isn't the first time we've seen the Galaxy J5, though this is the closest to official we've gotten thus far.
