Rokit Generation 2 studio speakers launch

KRK Systems have updated their best-selling Rokit studio speaker range, with a new curved baffle, redefined voicing and improved accuracy. The Rokit Generation 2 series all feature 1-inch Neodymium soft dome tweeters and glass aramid composite cone woofers, while the rounded front surface is meant to broaden the sound "sweet spot"

"Traditional rectangular speakers with square or slightly rounded edges suffer from diffraction as sounds leaving the edge of the cabinet are reflected back into the original sound field, and at different time intervals. This phase distortion creates a "narrow" or boxy" sound. The Rokit Generation 2 Series eliminates this issue with radically engineered curved surfaces, so diffraction is virtually eliminated" KRK Systems

Three sizes are available, with 5, 6 or 8-inch cones and front-firing bass ports, apparently shaped and tapered to reduce port turbulence. Each speaker is bi-amplified with an active crossover and has a newly designed rigid wood cabinet.

Inputs include RCA, Quarter-Inch (balanced/unbalanced) and XLR. The new Rokit G2 speakers are available now from Guitar Center, priced from $149 to $249 per speaker.
